A.    Most women dream to have a petite and voluptuous figure so count your blessings! There are so many great outfits for the petite and voluptuous figured women.

First and foremost, shop for fitted v-neck tops. They work great for your figure. Make sure the v-necks are not too tight. Stay away from wearing v-necks that are to low because you want to look elegant, while looking chic. Must have shirts for your figure include men button-up shirt style work shirts, tops that taper or nip you waist a tiny. Fitted princess cut coats work well for your figure. A large belt can be your best friend because they also flatter your proportion. Stay away from embroidery, ruffles, or big patterned tops.

Pencil and a-line skirts are perfect for your figure. Stay away from mid-thigh or narrow skirts they may make you seem top-heavy. Waist and boot-cut jeans are perfect paired with leather boots or heels. Also, flaired jeans (slight flare bottom) work as well because they complement and give you balance. Super skinny jeans or super full legs paints are not as flattering. However,
if you put boots over skinny jeans it will work well for your shape. Long boots (over pants, tights, etc.) are flattering for your figure.

Stick to jewelry that focus on bring the attention to your face. The neck and the ears are important because you want to draw attention to your glowing face. A
great way to do this is to wear matching (necklace and earrings) jewelery in bold, pastel (which is big this season). This
will bring attention to your beautiful face, while helping to balance your outfit. Of course you can wear bracelets, however, focus more on your face and accentuating your facial features!

Q.    I love your articles! I am African American and I am trying to wear my hair natural but flat ironed. What would you recommend - shampoo and conditioner and getting it to look manageable.Also, if I want to wear it natural what products would you recommend for curl defining. I would like a product that defines my curls. - Stacey

A.    Thank you so much for your kind words. I have a question for you: do you flat iron your hair to make it more "manageable"? Your kinks, curls, and coils are gorgeous, no doubt, but can be hard to manage without finding what works right for your hair. To avoid heat damage, I would suggest opting for roller sets under a hooded dryer or air-dried overnight to achieve a straighter look. It is less damaging, and can last up to a week if you tie your hair with a silk or satin scarf before you go to bed. Make sure the set is totally dry before you remove the rollers to avoid poufy roots that cant mat easily.

 If you still choose to flat iron, do it very sparingly. Be sure to use a heat protectant spray every time you use heat on your hair. I would also suggest using a flat iron that has ceramic plates (they are less damaging) and a temperature gauge setting, so you don't fry your strands.

Curl definition and "manageability" go hand in comb for most Naturals.  There are seemingly endless amounts of shampoo and conditioners on the market. Choose a shampoo and conditioner with quality, nourishing ingredients that are formulated for your hair needs.  There are no miracle products, only products you find through trial and error that work best for you. That is the real truth that you won't hear in most magazines for our hair.

If you are stumped on trying to find a better shampoo and conditioner, I would suggest starting from product lines that get the most rave reviews from other Naturals: Giovanni, Aubrey Organics, Oyin Handmade, Kinky Curly, Aveda, Elucence. A.   Makeup can be very damaging to your skin so I am glad to hear that you have decided to go natural!

First and foremost, to achieve flawless skin water is essential. Drink the recommended 8 glasses a day. Wash your face at night (not just in the morning), this will remove all the unwanted dirt and dead skin. Find a proper washcloth - the gentle-to-skin Shammy Cloth from Aveda is one of our favorites (when it is wet it is soft and gentle to your skin, when it dries it becomes stiff preventing bacteria from growing). Wear SPF twice a day everyday (always give it 20 min. before you leave the house), it will also give your skin the nutrients to stay healthy and keep your face looking young. You know the saying, "You are what you eat," it's true. Eat only healthy foods, go light on chocolate and candy, and stay far away from greasy/oily foods.

Be dedicated to following the above and you will have radiant, flawless, and beautiful skin.

Q.  I have zero work pants and one
million skirts. What should I do about my winter wardrobe at work? I don't have a
ton of money to buy tons of new work pants. How can I get creative with this?

A.   This is a great question. With winter and the holiday season we tend to want to rush out and get new clothes for work, school, and special events. However, you can achieve a great look without spending much. And you certainly don't have to buy a plethora of new clothes (especially paints). Always work with what you have.

So, you have a tone of skirts. You're in luck because skirts are not only great to achieve that business look but also can be very chic and stylish if worn with the right accessories. Plus, skirts are great for all seasons! To solve your problem at work you need to invest in a few (thick) stockings, long leg warmers, and two tall boots (2 pairs max will do it and several stockings/leg warmers).

The taller the boots the better. Not only will the tall boots come in handy when the weather gets very cold but also tall boots are in! With your leg warmers you can coordinate them with pumps when it's not too cold. When the weather gets colder you then can wear your thick stockings with pumps or with your tall boots to cover your legs completely.

This buy should not be expensive and should be a great investment for this winter and many more to come. You don't have to buy both boots at the same time. Buy when you can. Shop around for good deals on boots. Sometimes vintage stores have the most stylish and unique boots that can give any skirt a style of it's own. Once you have your leg warmers/stockings and boot(s), you will be able to find different ways to coordinate winter styles with all of your skirts.

You may never need to wear pants

A.   Your t-shirt idea is not such a bad idea when it comes to covering up. However, if taken one step up it can also be a fashion statement. Have you thought about buying a real swim suit cover-up outfit? It will not only give you the comfort you want but also a cute and chic expression of style.

Certain cover-up styles can even allow you to still show off your bikini without making you feel uncomfortable. In turn, you can wear your choice of bikini and it would be visible.

You can wear a bright swimsuit underneath this style cover-up and still swim with ease. The brighter the suit the better!

Check online and in your local department stores for other styles that will suit you. Also try swim suit stores. They usually have different style covers as well.

*** However, deciding to go without a cover-up all together would be very rewarding. Going without a cover-up you will probably realize that you are beautiful just the way you are.
